Calpe is one of those towns on the Costa Blanca where the beach isn't "on the outskirts": it's right in the town center. With the Peñón de Ifach as a backdrop, you can step out of your apartment, cross the promenade, and be on the sand in minutes. In this guide, we'll explore the main beaches and coves of Calpe, what each one offers, and which one best suits your trip.
According to Tourist Info Calpe, the municipality boasts 13 km of coastline with 14 beaches and coves, ranging from long, fine sandy urban beaches to small rocky coves at the foot of the cliffs. In 2026, Calpe earned five Blue Flags: Arenal-Bol, La Fossa-Levante, and Cantal Roig retained theirs, while Puerto Blanco and El Racó were awarded them for the first time (official ADEAC list / Blue Flag 2026-2027). The tourist office also highlights a climate with approximately 3,180 hours of sunshine per year and an average annual temperature of 18ºC, making a stroll along the seafront appealing almost year-round.
The two main urban beaches are Arenal-Bol and La Fossa-Levante, separated by the Peñón de Ifach. Next to the port is the small Cantal Roig, and along more than 5 km of cliffs (Peñón de Ifach, Toix and La Manzanera) are scattered coves such as El Penyal, Les Bassetes or El Racó.

It's the most centrally located beach and one of the busiest. Official information:
A palm-lined promenade, restaurants, cafes, and ice cream shops runs alongside it. It's the most convenient option if you're traveling with children or simply want to get to the beach without a car. In summer, there's an accessible bathing area near Calle Irlanda (see below).
North of the Peñón de Ifach, near the Salinas salt flats, lies La Fossa, also called Levante beach:
Tourist Information describes it as a quiet, family-friendly urban beach with a unique view of the Peñón de Ifach from its less-seen side. Amenities include a children's playground, water sports, a local bus service, foot showers, restrooms, and daily cleaning. The promenade is lined with restaurants, ice cream parlors, and shops. From here, it's easy to combine a day at the beach with a hike or walk through the natural park: we explain this in our guide to the Peñón de Ifach.
Small (around 200 m) and peaceful, Cantal Roig beach is located next to the fishing port and at the foot of the Peñón de Ifach. It retained its Blue Flag status in 2026, according to the official ADEAC list, and is a good option for families. Its main advantage is its setting: boats returning to the port, fish restaurants nearby, and, a few meters further south, the Baños de la Reina (Queen's Baths), a series of pools carved into the rock during Roman times.

If you prefer clear water and fewer people, coves are the place for you. Some of those listed in the official inventory are:
Tip: When visiting rocky coves, wear water shoes and goggles. They don't usually have the same amenities as urban beaches.
